The Smallest Penguins in the World - Phillip Island

Sydney was a lot of fun, especially hanging out with Tooey and Van. Unfortunately, we spent more time than we had allotted in Sydney and now we have to power through to Melbourne. The plan was to drive to Melbourne via Phillip Island. We wanted to see the world’s smallest penguins. They’re supposed to be wicked cute.

The drive to Phillip Islands was long from Sydney. We got to Phillip Island and we had enough time to see the cute penguins. We had some idea how big the penguins were, but we didn’t expect them to be so tiny. They were indeed very cute.

Everyone had to sit on the concrete platform and wait for the penguins to return home. Sadly, they had banned any kind of photography or videography. Of course, me being an Indian and have total disregard of the law, I took a video of the penguins returning home and took a few photos of them as well. I had to. They were just so cute!

We waited until they closed the entire reserve for visitors and then had hot chocolate in our campervan in the parking lot. They had informed to double check the bottom of the car to make sure that there were no penguins under the car. We did, but I saw a stray penguin in the parking lot not too far from our campervan. I tried going close to it, but they’re just too shy and scared. I didn’t pursue too much knowing it would stress these little angels. They were by far the cutest penguins I’ve ever seen. It was definitely worth rushing to get there on time.
